[Name]

I'm a [] year old [] Student, currently enrolled at []. As of May 2024 I've been drawing for about 6.5 years. I also like to animate and occasionally video edit. As you can see from this website I'm also interested in web design. I am skilled in cartooning and use of digital mediums. With this portfolio I am to showcase the graphic design skill I've gained this semester.

Sandwich Project

This was a practice piece to learn about layering and layer types.

Ft. Me waving in the corner

Textures/Filters Practice

This was a practice piece to learn how to use Adobe Photoshop's smart filters.

Portrait Collage

This was a self portrait collage to learn about layer masking in Adobe Photoshop.

All images used were open source, song lyrics overlayed over the background are from the song Telephone by Waterparks.

Growth

I'm really proud of my work in this class. I was able to build on my prexisting skills and learn new techniques I hadn't tried before. My work definitely got better towards the end of the semester. I got more creative with the projects and applied them to my interests outside of school. That drove me to put more passion into my work.

Unrelated to my assigned graphic art skills I was able to apply what I learned to my website design. I was able to tweak my "template" that I created last semester and create a higher quality overall design. I learned how to make my containers auto adjust based on their contents, organize my CSS on a seperate sheet, and change the fonts. Mainly just general clean up but I think it looks better technically and graphically.

Edible Architecture

This assignment was about taking seperate elements and putting them together to appear like they all belonged in one image.

I rushed this project but it turned out alright in the end.

Best Work

My best work was the playing cards assignment. I only finished 3 of the designs I planned due to a wrist injury but they came out really well. I used a mixed brush pencil sketch style for my line art and I think it looks really cool. Mixed with my painterly coloring style I think these are very visually interesting and high quality.

Playing Cards

These playing cards were based on me and my friend's characters we created in my freshman year. This is by far my favorite set of artworks from this class.

Reflection

I really liked this class, I was able to express myself and take my time with assignments I was passionate about. I learned some more about Adobe Photoshop and the programs I'm already used to (FireAlpaca, Procreate, CapCut). I struggled to focus on assignments I didn't really care for but that's the case with everyone I think. Overall I had a lot of fun. :)

I have applied these skills into other areas of my life, my web development hobby for one. I also applied it to personal projects and other school related presentations. I'll continue to grow in this field for the rest of my life. Art and graphic design is my passion, my drive, and I'm excited to see where it'll take me in the future.

Animated Photo Illistration

This was a drawing of a character I initially did for myself but I seperated the stars and animated them in Photoshop for this project.

I couldn't figure out how to copy/paste frames in Photoshop's animation window so I reversed and looped it in CapCut Desktop.
